Fur On Products - A Natural Wormer

Fur On Products - A Natural Wormer

I’ve had a few people ask about fur on products recently and what benefits they actually have. Some people were concerned that their dog would choke on the fur or just wouldn’t want to eat the treat. So, I thought I’d do a blog post about the benefits of fur on natural treats and why you should give them a go!

The fur covering is classed as a source of fibre, and as we all know, fibre in the diet aids good digestive health...

  • As fur is undigestible, it basically brushes its way through the digestive system and helps to clear away any food residue which can build up over time. This build-up of food residue can cause a sluggish digestive system,  and over time cause discomfort.

  • Cleaning the digestive tract will maximise your dog’s ability to absorb all the nutrients being taken in, as there will be more room along the digestive tract for the absorption to take place.

  •  The 'brushing' action of the fur also acts as a natural protection against worms, by brushing away worms and eggs in the digestive system. I would advise feeding around 1 – 2 fur products a week and if combined with a worm count test once a year, you can really minimise the need to use harsh worming tablets.

  • The fur also aids in cleaning teeth, as it rubs a little of the surface plaque off the gums and between the teeth.

  • Fibre/fur is great for building up poop. To naturally express the anal glands, poo needs to be firm enough to press against the anal glands as it passes through. (Sorry if that one was a bit gross!)

The current fur on products I sell are – Furry rabbit ears, Hairy cow ears, Rabbit skin and Venison legs

So, there you have it!  Hopefully you found this helpful and will give fur on products a try!
